Kwan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy, is the embodiment of love, beauty and benevolence. She holds in her right hand the willow branch, which symbolizes strength and perseverance. In her left hand is the flask of holy water, with which she blesses her true believers. Kwan Yin is also the patron saint of sailors. During stormy weather, seafarers pray to her for deliverance. She comes to their rescue, riding through the crashing waves on the back of the mighty Dragon.
